A Medieval Sword Of Oakeshott Type XII
Mid-14th Century

In excavated condition, with broad tapering double-edged blade with shallow central fuller over two thirds of its length along both sides, the fuller on one side towards the forte with latten-inlaid cross potent with a double circle, flattened slightly arched quillons widening at the ends, tapering tang flattened to form a small button over the top of the pommel, and compressed chamfered wheel pommel with circular recess on both sides
89 cm. blade, 110.2 cm. overall

The quillons conform to Oakeshott's Style 5 with a pommel of Type HI
