A Medieval Sword Of Viking Type, Petersen Type N
Second Half Of The 9th Century

In excavated condition, with broad tapering double-edged blade with wide central fuller over most of its length on both sides to the point, hilt comprising flat rectangular guard with rounded terminals, flat tapering tang forming a small button at the top of the pommel, and pommel of two-piece 'tea-cosy' form
80 cm. blade, 93.3 cm. overall
