An English Brass-Mounted Hanger
Late 17th Century

Similar to the last, the blade stamped with a crowned king's head mark on each side towards the forte, cast and chased hilt comprising side-guard with crowned portrait medallion of a Roman emperor centred on pierced scrolling foliage, and linked to the knuckle-guard with double leaf-calyx at the centre and foliate terminal hooked into the pommel-cap, rear quillon with horned grotesque head terminal, pommel cap with winged cherubs heads and portrait busts centred on the tang button, and natural staghorn grip with a collar at its base
