A Spanish Left-Hand Dagger
Dated 1649

With slender sharply tapering blade of rectangular section etched on one side '*SANDRI. RACCHI*' and on the other '*VERIT A SOF TOTACIENTA* 1649', ricasso cut with a C-scroll on each side and incised with two rows of concentric circles above, and recessed for the thumb on the other side, hilt comprising turned recurved quillons with button terminals, turned triangular guard with flanged edges cut with pairs of lines, compressed circular pommel with button centred on concentric circles, and later swelling leather-covered grip (light rust patination)
