An Officer's Sabre
Early 19th Century

With curved fullered blade (some rust patination) etched along one side of the forte with crowned post-1801 royal arms between a rocaille amid foliage and a martial trophy, and on the other with 'GR' crowned between a baldachin and foliage, bronze stirrup hilt retaining traces of gilding and comprising rounded langets, lobed rear quillon, lion-head pommel and faceted back-piece in one, and ribbed ivory grip (chipped) bound with copper wire, in its black leather scabbard (some wear) with linear engraved bronze mounts (frog-stud missing) retaining faint traces of gilding, and two suspension rings
