A Cased Scottish Officer's Silver-Mounted Regimental Dirk Of The Gordon Highlanders
Retailed By Carter & Co., Pall Mall, London, Late 19th/Early 20th Century

With fullered blade (rust patinated) notched along the back and etched along one side with retailer's details, 'VR' crowned, crowned regimental badges and thistles, and along the other with battle honours from 1878-80, ebonised baluster grip carved with basket weave set with silver studs, basal mount chased with thistles, and foliate openwork pommel set with an imitation cairngorm, in original wood-lined black patent leather scabbard (minor crazing) with border engraved mounts set with thistles, the locket with regimental badge, the by-knife and fork en suite with the dirk: in original wooden case lined in navy blue velvet (sgian dubh missing)
