A Balkan (Souliot) 22-Bore Flintlock Pistol With Silver Stock
19th Century

The barrel retaining traces of chiselled foliate decoration at the breech, plain tang (incomplete, tang plate missing), lightly engraved rounded lock (jaw screw incomplete), heavy full stock with slightly down bent tapering butt cast and chased overall in relief with repeated designs of scrollwork and foliage involving scallop shells and highlighted with small nielloed panels, bulbous pommel, muzzle-sleeve and false ramrod all en suite, and pommel terminal cast, pierced and chased with foliage involving two monster-heads (trigger-guard missing)
