A North African (Moroccan) 20-Bore Snaphaunce Gun, Another Of 15-Bore, And Two Balkan (Probably Albanian) Miquelet-Lock Guns (Arnautka)
All 19th Century

The first with two-stage sighted barrel retained by four silver barrel bands each embossed and chased with foliage, characteristic lock (one side-nail missing) struck with two brass-lined maker's marks, pan with sliding cover and circular terminal faced in silver engraved with a star and foliage, hardwood three-quarter stock (fore-stock damaged and incomplete) with fish-tail butt, the latter carved with a border of scrollwork and with ivory butt-plate, and iron trigger-guard (steel parts russet overall, ramrod missing); the second of similar form, barrel retained by numerous steel barrel bands, the stock inlaid with variously shaped bone panels decorated with pigment filled roundels, wooden butt-plate, and steel ramrod (lock with parts missing, steel parts russet overall); the last two each of characteristic form and in poor condition, the fish-tail butts set with pieces of mother-of-pearl secured by rosette-headed studs (pitted overall) (4)
