The First Qajar, All 19th Century
The first with eccentrically flared muzzle and etched with lightly silver-damascened Arabic inscriptions, chiselled breech, plain flat bevelled lock, varnished full stocks inlaid with brass wire and pellets, steel trigger-guard, butt-plate and saddle-bar, and no provision for a ramrod; the second with characteristic blade fluted along the back and curved to the wide brass-inlaid fish-tail point, tubular iron grip between disc-shaped guards and retaining the remains of its fabric wrapping, and compressed globular pommel cut with borders of chequering and fluting; the last with plain single-edged blade, the hilt with silver covered basal mount and garlic-shaped pommel (minor damage), and grip bound with plaited, twisted and plain silver wire, in original wood-lined silver scabbard with applied twisted silver wire ornament (minor losses)
