The First Qajar, All Late 19th Century

The first with domed skull decorated with linked vertical cartouches between roundels lightly damascened with brass scrollwork within silver-damascened borders, all against a ground of chiselled foliage, the rim bordered by ovoidal and circular cartouches chiselled with silver-damascened Persian verses and foliage, fitted with central spike of diamond section, adjustable nasal with shaped terminals, and two plume-holders all lightly silver-damascened, and with vandyked camail of butted rings; the second shaped to the fore-arm and decorated en suite (wrist-plates missing); the last of convex form, with applied rim and four petalled bosses, the outer surface damascened in silver and gold overall with differing designs of meandering flowering foliage, the bosses framed by applied damascened serpentine ribands (3)
