The First Qajar, 19th Century, The Remainder 18th/19th Century

The first of convex form with applied rounded brass rim and four silver-damascened bosses, the outer surface etched with shaped cartouches linked together and framing seated Persian courtly figures, all centred on a circular panel en suite, the outer border with elongated panels of cursive script between borders of foliage and scrollwork; the second each of convex leather variously plain or painted with designs of foliage (some damage and loss of paint), and including a Balochistan example, the outer surface set with four conical brass bosses, crescents and roundels all with punched circular decoration, the cusped border en suite, the interior retaining its leather pad, another, with four pierced gilt-copper bosses and crescent each with punched and chased foliate decoration, another, with domed octagonal bosses each chased and gilt with flowers, and retaining its burgundy velvet pad, and a pair each with brass bosses cast with human faces; together with an Indian spear on a tubular white-metal shaft formed in sections, and a North African spear (in poor condition) (14)
