With curved blade double-edged to the point in front of the yelman, the forte stamped with an 'S' mark between crosses on one side, and incised with the Ottoman arsenal mark (tanğa) of St. Irene on the other, hilt comprising cross-guard of diamond section with double pointed langets engraved and punched with a differing flower-head on each side, quillons swelling towards the tips and with punched and engraved decoration, arched pommel-cap with a border of scrolls and small punched circles on both sides, and slightly curved beaked grip of octagonal section covered in blackened fish-skin and with a copper-lined hole at the top for a thong (the metal parts with pitting and now polished bright)
