17th Century And Later

The first of russet steel, with blade double-edged at the rounded point and with a circular trefoil-shaped mark on one side at the forte, and reinforced along the back over most of its length with riveted steel plates, characteristic hilt with stalk-like finial (incomplete), and slender grip of flattened diamond section; the second with tapering blade of finely watered wootz steel gold-damascened with a panel of flowering foliage on both sides at the forte, beaked hilt en suite (some wear), and spirally-grooved dark horn grip-scales (some damage), in later velvet-covered wooden scabbard with gold-damascened steel chape (pitted); the third with broad recurved double-edged blade, and integral steel grip with hardwood grip-scales each inlaid with small pyrite circles; the last with characteristic blade stamped with the date '1915' on one side, and wooden grip (chipped), in its leather-covered scabbard with copper chape (4)
