An Italian Breast-Plate And Tassets
Late 16th Century

Of bright steel, the breast-plate of peascod form with medial ridge and embossed with a roped volute beneath the boldly turned and roped neck, moveable armhole gussets en suite, skirt of two lames, the lower lame with roped arch over the crotch, tassets each of nine upward lapping lames (suspension straps later) articulated on later riveted leathers, the lower edges each with embossed and roped swag above a turned and roped border, the main edges line engraved, and with later dome-headed rivets throughout (some rust patination and lamination)
