The first with two-piece skull with low turned comb and riveted plume-holder at the rear, the base of the skull with a row of dome-headed rivets, and downturned brim with turned recessed border and domed lining rivets (minor damage, surface rust and pitting overall); the second with low medial ridge drawn-out to a blunt point above a short flange at the base, turned neck and arms, the former struck with a shield-shaped mark, probably the Cross of St. George mark (thought to be a government mark of the Commonwealth period) and with a maker's mark, both above a punched 'H', the latter with incised line borders, and retaining stud-catches for shoulder-straps (some surface rust and pitting) (2)
