Two German Circular Powder-Flasks
Late 17th Century

The first with turned fruitwood body (minor damage and old bruising) encircled by an iron band carrying the tubular nozzle on a turned base, sprung bird-like tap chevroned at the thumb, hinged fish-shaped cover over a keyhole, and two rectangular suspension rings (some rust patination); the second with rounded root wood body (old split on one side) centred on a turned bone roundel (one repaired) on each side, and threaded bone nozzle (2)
15.3 cm. and 11 cm. diam.
