A Sword Of Viking Type, Oakeshott's Type X
Mid-10th To Mid-11th Century

In excavated condition, with broad tapering double-edged blade with shallow well defined central fuller over most of its length on each side and extending slightly into the tang, the fuller on one side at the forte inlaid in silver 'INNINNI' between silver cross potent marks, hilt comprising straight quillons of rectangular section swelling slightly over the tang, and large Brazil-nut pommel
