The first with tapering 17th century blade of flattened hexagonal section incised '. ILL . SINHL . ES . EL . CAVISC O. D E. BOOL .' within the fuller on one side of the forte and '. CLEMENTE . BONIQVl . EN . ALAMANIA .' within the other, hilt comprising cup-guard (minor damage) with slender rim and engraved with a repeated design of acanthus against a hatched ground, guardopolvo formed from a pierced and chiselled small-sword shell-guard, long slender quillons incised with chevrons and with turned button terminals, knuckle-guard en suite, compressed spirally-grooved pommel with button, and wire-bound grip; the second with fullered blade, large cast-iron hilt comprising cup-guard (damaged and incomplete) with border of pierced and chased fruiting foliage, writhen quillons and knuckle-guard, globular pommel with flower-heads and trellising, and wire-bound grip (russet overall) (2)
