A Composite Rapier
Late 17th/Early 18th Century

With tapering double-edged blade (some light pitting) incised with circles within the slender double fullers on each side of the forte and stamped with a cross beyond, steel hilt comprising downcurved arms carrying fluted asymetrical upturned shells secured by four screws and with cusped upper borders, straight writhen quillons with fluted button terminals, fluted domed pommel with turned button, and spirally-twist grip bound with twisted steel wire
