Two Continental Hunting Hangers
18th Century

The first with broad fullered blade now clipped-back at the point, the forte etched and gilt with symmetrical foliage on each side, an etched and gilt stag within the fuller beyond (some wear), brass hilt comprising shell-guard chased with rocailles and linked at the top to the knuckle-guard by a diagonal bar, lobed rear quillon, pommel-cap en suite with the shell-guard and surmounted by a button, and fish skin-covered grip with three brass studs along one side; the second with fullered blade (some rust patination), brass hilt (rear quillon missing) with shell side-guard, knuckle-guard and grip-strap, and natural stag horn grips (2)
