The first with tapering single-edged blade of tapering triangular section cut with a slender fuller along the back for most of its length to the point on each side, and retaining some etched decoration on both sides of the forte including a sun-in-splendour and symmetrical strapwork, steel hilt comprising double shell-guard chiselled with horsemen between seated figures and a winged cherubs' head, quillon-block with a horseman beneath a grotesque mask on both sides, scrolled foliate arms, rear quillon and knuckle-guard (repaired) each with terminal formed as a demi-figure, pommel chiselled as a female head in the round, her hair tied in a bun and surmounted by a button, and vertically-fluted grip bound with twisted wire secured by cusped straps on each side and ferrules; the second with tapering blade (tip missing) with short fuller on each side of the forte, iron hilt retaining some original gold overlay and chiselled with portrait medallions, comprising down bent kidney-shaped quillons on a quillon-block, fluted compressed pommel, and later wooden grip (pitted) (2)
