Of russet iron, comprising waisted hammer-head with square flat face balanced by a beak-shaped fluke of diamond section; incised with lines at the socket, and surmounted by a rounded button, on tapering haft of octagonal section becoming square at the grip and incised with initials 'BR' on one flat, and leather-covered wooden grip of circular section between a disc-shaped hand-guard and compressed globular pommel, the former with triangular 'sword breaker' (belt hook missing)
