A Very Rare European Dagger
Late 15th Century

With tapering double-edged blade of flattened diamond section with latten-inlaid maker's mark on one side at the forte, hilt comprising steel quillon-block with stout quillons of tapering circular section slightly curved beneath, cap-shaped pommel of octagonal form with cusped border, and tapering octagonal grip formed of alternate sections of white and dark horn (minor rust staining and two old splits), the former incised with circles each centred on a dot within vertical line borders (areas of old pitting)
37 cm. blade, 49.3 cm. overall
