Early 17th Century, Probably Venetian
With tapering double-edged blade (minor edge nicks) of hollow diamond section flattened for the thumb on one side of the forte, iron hilt comprising notched arched double quillons, two concentric side-rings each cut with two panels of chequering and with a characteristic scallop-shaped shell between, ovoidal pommel with prominent button, and original wooden grip retaining a Turk's head (wire binding missing, russet overall)
