An Officer's Presentation Sabre To Major Charles Lloyd By The 2nd Division Of Light Infantry Militia In Ireland

The blade bright at the tip and etched, blued and gilt over two thirds of its length on one side with foliage, crowned 'GR' cypher and a martial trophy suspended from ribbons within a long octagonal panel between further trophies, and with a crescent surmounted by a plume, and on the other with decoration en suite involving a crowned slung bugle horn and the presentation inscription (some loss of finish and light surface rust patination), cast and chased ormolu hilt comprising foliate langets, the outer one with applied crowned slung bugle horn, bud-shaped rear quillon, and grip chequered along each side and with acanthus leaf pommel, in original black leather scabbard (broken, some crazing and loss of finish) with ormolu mounts chased with scrollwork, the chape with further mount pierced en suite, two rings for suspension, and much original gilding (some loss of gilding, particularly on the chape)
