Large Carcharodon megalodon Shark Tooth
Carcharodon megalodon
Neogene, Miocene
South Carolina
Though Carcharodon megalodon was the largest shark that ever lived, growing to more than fifty feet in length, most of the teeth found are only three to four inches in length. Specimens over five inches in length are in great demand. This large, six-inch-long, 15-million-year-old tooth was found in the muddy river waters of South Carolina. Estimating the length of a shark at about ten feet in length to every one inch of tooth, this behemoth would have measured almost sixty feet long. Attractive gray-black enamel, excellent serrations and a black root recommend this piece. Offered with a custom display stand with identification as Megalodon. Measuring 6in
