Immense Aberrant Megalodon Shark Tooth
Carcharodon megalodon
Neogene, Miocene
South Carolina
Carcharodon megalodon was the largest shark that ever lived, growing to more than fifty feet in length. This immense 15-20-million-year-old aberrant tooth was found in the muddy river waters of South Carolina. Estimating the length of a shark at about ten feet in length to every one inch of tooth, this behemoth would have been over sixty feet long. The huge tooth is a rare aberrant shark's tooth with its blade curving inward rather than pointing straight down as is typical. The specimen displays attractive brown gray enamel and an intact black root. Offered with a custom display stand with identification as Megalodon. Original, with no restoration. Measuring 6 1/8in on the diagonal
