The carved opal head of Ophelia facing upwards, issuing long unfurling tresses of hair tangled with flower head clusters, with subtle red patinated detail, on carved slate inscribed with lines from Hamlet's letter from Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', Act II, Scene II, on a slate stand, signed Coates 89, brooch width 11.1cm, stand width 12.5cm
