A Greek parcel gilt silver goblet
Hellenistic Period, circa 2nd Century B.C.
The hemispherical bowl with a gilded band around the rim decorated with chased scrolls, with an added conical foot decorated with a foliate motif, 7.3cm high

Ornate silver vessels were part of the household of the Hellenistic elite, displaying the owner's wealth to family and friends. A silver cup decorated internally with a band of gold with the same scrolling motif as the present lot is in the Getty Museum, inv. no. 96.AM.161. For another example see M.
