Second Half Of The 10th Century
In excavated condition, with broad tapering double-edged blade with shallow central fuller over nearly its entire length to the rounded point, the fuller on one side at the forte with latten-inlaid inscription 'INGELRI' (some latten missing), hilt comprising short cross-piece of square section slightly tapering to the tips, flat tapering tang, and pommel of 'tea-cosy' form
