Footnotes

Peter Lindeman, born in German, immigrated to Uruguay with his family, before moving to New York at the age of 17 in 1947. His father was a jeweler and he learned his craft working at the bench the old fashioned way from father to son. After apprenticing, then working for several fine retailers including – Tiffany & Co., Bailey, Banks & Biddle, and Shreve Crump and Low, Lindeman went into business for himself.

For more than fifty years, Lindeman has been creating wearable, stylish jewelry that has stood the test of time and is collectible. His own creations from the 1960's forward bare his hallmark and reflect his continued commitment to quality, style and craftsmanship. His repertoire is vast and creative and sometimes humorous, ranging from a realistic gem-set bee to rough diamond and emerald crystal ring. More often than not, he prefers to express his designs with texture and color. Well recognized by his peers for his creativity, Lindeman has received numerous awards; and in 1975, his "Moon Crater" bracelet, lot 54, brought accolades from The Diamond Information Center. DeBeers commissioned Peter Lindeman to create a diamond and gold tennis racket brooch in the 1970's which he presented to Chris Evert.

Today, his unique creations are found in private and museum collections.
