An interesting Breguet et Fils mahogany marine chronometer, French, 19th century,

No. 5093, Hgrs de la Marine Royals, the movement and key associated,
the signed and numbered 3 1/2 inch silvered dial with twin subsidiary dials for Roman hours and running Arabic seconds, both with blued steel hands, set in a brass bowl with two protected winding apertures suspended in the numbered brass gimbal, the associated Breguet gilt half plate movement numbered 208 and 4960 with twin going barrel barrels, each wound separately, driving a cut and compensated bi-metallic balance with steel helical spring and Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, in a mahogany two-part box with sliding inspection cover to the upper section inlaid with a brass lozenge numbered 5093, brass handles to the sides and oval brass key escutcheon to the front, mounted to the interior with an original Breguet tipsy key numbered 4770 the case 8in (21cm) wide

Accompanied by Certificate number 3716 from Breguet, 12, Place Vendome, Paris dated 19th November 1981 stating that this chronometer, circa 1830, is composed of three original Breguet elements.
