A large important George Adams bronze horizontal sundial, English, 1750,

signed G. Adams at No. 60 fleet Street London. Instrument Maker to his Majesty K.G. IIId, the circular dial of green patina and well-engraved with compass rose and thirty-two point wind rose, calendar scale and hour and minutes scale, the shaped gnomon for latitude 50 degrees 33 minutes, 15 3/4 in (40cm) radius

Footnotes

This dial would have been made for use in England as the signature would have been "King George III of Great Britain" had it been for overseas use rather than abbreviated signature on this example. The latitude suggests a location in Devon or Cornwall.

An almost identical sundial is located on the terrace of Culzean Castle in Ayrshire former home of the Marquess on Ailsa.
