Blued finish, the hammer with much hardening-colour, the slide stamped Patented APR.20.1897.SEPT.9.1902, Colt's PT.F.A.MFG.CO. Hartford CT. U.S.A. on the left and Automatic Colt Calibre .38 Rimless Smokeless on the right, the butt with chequered hard rubber grips, impressed with the makers name and Colt rampant logo and lanyard-loop to the left side
