With plain barrel and tang, signed flat bevelled lock struck beneath the pan with crowned '2' mark, ring-neck cock, figured full stock with apron around the barrel tang (fore-end repaired along one side, T-shaped repair behind the side-plate, some old bruising), regulation brass mounts, and contemporary horn-tipped ramrod with iron worm, Tower private proof marks and maker's mark

Robert 2 Barnett was free of the Gunmakers' Company in 1778. His mark was granted in 1781, the same year he was elected Assistant to the Company. In 1785 he was elected Master. He was Contractor to the East India Company between 1791 and 1792. Following his death in 1793 the business was continued by his widow, Elizabeth
