A Medieval Sword Of Oakeshott Type XII
13th/14th Century

In excavated condition, with broad tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section with wide central fuller over half its length on each side, the forte on both sides retaining traces of latten-inlaid marks including running wolf, heraldic shield and cross, straight quillons of square section, flat tapering tang retaining its original wooden grips, and large chamfered wheel pommel
79.5 cm. blade, 96 cm. overall
