A Medieval Sword
14th/15th Century

In excavated condition, with tapering double-edged blade with shallow central fuller over two thirds of its length on each side, the fuller on one side towards the forte with traces of an inscription(?), the forte on one side painted with old inventory number 'E.1.', hilt comprising straight tapering quillons with down bent lobed tips, wheel pommel, and tapering wooden grip of flattened ovoidal section
82.3 cm. blade, 96.1 cm. overall
