A Spanish cup-hilt Rapier
Late 17th/Early 18th century

With slender tapering blade of flattened ovoidal section with central fuller on each face of the forte stamped 'Andris Brabender' within one and 'Ihn Solingen' within the other, all between double cross marks, iron hilt comprising plain cup (minor repair) with turned rim, long slender quillons with turned button terminals, knuckle-guard en suite and with turned central moulding, compressed globular pommel, and later wire-bound grip
