A Constabulary Hanger, A 1796 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword, A Socket Bayonet, And Two Edged Weapons
18th/19th Century

The first with bright curved fullered blade double-edged at the point, brass hilt with sprung button scabbard catch on one side, lobed rear quillon stamped on one side, knuckle-guard, stepped pommel-cap, and spirally-grooved fishskin-covered grip, in original leather scabbard with brass locket and chape, the former with frog-button and complete with its leather frog; the second of regulation pattern (blade pitted, hilt worn, silver grip-covering split), in associated scabbard with linear engraved brass mounts (chape replaced), foliate frog button, and two rings for suspension; the third of characteristic form, the socket incised with Islamic numbers; the last comprising a short curved fullered hanger blade etched and gilt over most of its on each side with foliated strapwork, crowned trophy of arms, a panel inscribed 'Speruit Lu Milia Virtus', a bird and a sun-in-splendour, and swelling vertically fluted ebony grip (hilt mounts missing), and a sword-cane with slender blade of flattened hexagonal section retaining traces of etched decoration on each side of the forte, and bone grip of circular section (chipped, old splits) with copper ferrule (5)
