With bright slightly curved fullered blade double-edged towards the point and etched along both sides with crowned 'VR' cypher between foliate scrollwork, the forte on one side with maker's details beneath Prince of Wales feathers and 'By Appointment' on a scroll, and on the other with circular gilt-lined maker's stamp centred on an etched star, regulation steel three-bar hilt with chequered pommel and back-piece, and wire-bound fishskin-covered grip, in its steel scabbard (light surface patination along one side) with two rings for suspension
