A pair of Balkan 16-bore flintlock Holster pistols (Kubura)
19th century, probably Peć

With swamped barrels each gold-damascened along the sighting flat and on the breech flat, the breeches chiselled in relief with a trophy of arms, border engraved tangs each chiselled with a portrait bust, rounded locks, cocks and steels all chiselled en suite with the breeches, the last each working against a large roller, moulded figured full stock each carved with foliage behind the rear ramrod-pipe and around the barrel tang, the butts inlaid with silver wire and pins including a sabre along one side, cast and chased silver mounts comprising pierced side-plates (one repaired) each with a figure against a martial trophy centred amid scrolling foliage inhabited by serpents, pierced crowned parcel-gilt escutcheons with a portrait bust and a grotesque mask below, spurred pommels each with a trophy of arms on both sides and gilt grotesque mask caps, engraved steel trigger-guards each with foliate finial, turned silver ramrod-pipes, and bone-tipped ramrods (steel parts with some surface patination) (2)
