A Turkish Yataghan
Dated 1218 A.H. For 1803 A.D.

With slightly recurved single-edged blade cut with a slender fuller along the back for most of its length on each side, the forte on each side with gold-damascened foliate panels, one side enclosing owner's name 'Ibrahim' and maker's name 'Bakir 68c' (the latter probably a regimental marking), and with the date along the back, all in naskh, a shaped silver-gilt mount over the forte set with beadwork and diamonds, and hilt (grips missing) with grip-strap of numerous close-set beads, in its wood-lined silver scabbard chased with symmetrical designs of foliage along each side centred on minarets on one side and a star-shaped motif on the other, locket pierced and chased with bands of flower-heads between plaiting, and chape chased with a feathered design over each side
