With sighted barrel (some surface rust) engraved 'London' within a long engraved loop on the top flat of the breech, foliate engraved tang grooved for sighting, signed border engraved rounded lock, figured full stock (some old splits, grip broken through and repaired) carved with foliage behind the barrel tang, mounts comprising pierced side-plate cast and chased with foliage centred on a vacant cartouche, butt-plate with border engraved heel tang decorated with foliage, and trigger-guard with early form of acorn finial and engraved with foliage on the bow, foliate escutcheon with a shell above and engraved with owner's name 'Rev.d Tho.s Dye', his crest beneath, brass ramrod-pipes, and later brass-tipped ramrod, private Birmingham proof marks
