A Very Fine And Rare Prince's Patent 22-Bore Breech-Loading Percussion Rifled Carbine
Signed Prince's Patent, London, Circa 1855

With two-stage barrel sliding towards for loading and rifled with five wide grooves, the sighted forward section browned twist and with blued folding leaf back-sight, the rear section left bright, signed along the top flat and operating within two blued barrel band clips, case-hardened border engraved breech decorated with foliate scrollwork, tang, signed detented back-action lock and hammer all en suite, the lock stamped 'E. Hodges' on the inside, figured half-stock lined in brass and, with horn fore-end cap chequered grip, case-hardened border engraved butt-plate and trigger-guard each decorated with foliate scrollwork, the latter with chequered spur, dark horn finger-stop, and blued catch on the bow securing the blued detachable bolt, the bolt operating within a blued border engraved guide-plate decorated with scrolling foliage, sling mount engraved as a flower-head, and retaining virtually all its original finish, London proof marks
