Two Caucasian Or Georgian Kindjals
Both 19th Century

The first with bright tapering double-edged blade cut with an off-set fuller over most of its length on each side, the forte on one side incised with owner's name 'Izzet(?) Khan' in nasta'liq, waisted hilt gold-damascened around the edge, dark horn grip-scale (the others missing), and retaining its gold-damascened grip retaining mounts, in its wooden scabbard now covered in plum velvet with original locket and chape each with shaped finial and damascened with symmetrical gold foliage within borders of running arabesques on the outside, the latter with suspension mount, the latter with spherical terminal; the second with blade of similar form (some pitting), the fuller on one side bordered by incised gold-inlaid pseudo inscriptions above a bird perched on foliage, and with deeply struck bladesmith's mark of 'Ali Wali' in thuluth on both sides of the forte within the fuller (hilt missing), in original velvet-covered (plush worn off) wooden scabbard with shaped silver locket and chape each nielloed with foliage against a hatched ground on the outside, the former with steel suspension mount (2)
