Rebuilt from flintlock, with re-browned twist damascus sighted barrels signed in gold along the rib and serial numbered 5323 for 1843 beneath, recessed case-hardened patent breeches each with four gold lines and engraved with a starburst between, grooved foliate engraved tang, bright border engraved working replacement flat locks and rounded hammers decorated with foliate scrollwork, the latter each with knurled nose, figured half-stock with chequered grip and fore-end, butt with later padded leather cheek-piece, bright steel mounts engraved with symmetrical designs of foliage and comprising butt-plate and trigger-guard, the latter numbered '4' in gold on the bow and retaining some original blueing on the inside, escutcheon with traces of owner's crest and motto, and gold barrel-bolt escutcheons: in brass-mounted two-tier oak case with some accessories including modern powder-horn and shot-flask, and a set of d.b percussion browned twist barrels, converted from flintlock and numbered 1403, the breeches each with platinum line and platinum-lined maker's mark of Dodson, Louth, and each numbered 8882 beneath, the interior of the lid with trade label of William Moore & Grey for 1843 to 1853, the exterior with vacant circular brass escutcheon, and complete with its outer leather travelling cover, London proof marks
