A Fine And Rare Cased Colt Factory Engraved 1849 Model Pocket Percussion Revolver
No. 46232. For 1852

With blued octagonal sighted barrel engraved around the muzzle (minor loss of finish on one side) and with so-called 'doughnut' foliate scrollwork on each side of the breech, on the frame, hammer with scaled monster-head, on each side of the rammer, on the silvered grip-strap and on the bow of the silvered trigger-guard, engraved barrel-wedge, barrel engraved 'Saml. Colt' in gothic script within scrollwork, blued cylinder with roll engraved stagecoach hold-up scene, varnished figured rounded grips, matching numbers, and retaining most of its original finish: in contemporary fitted oak case lined in blue velvet (corner compartment loose, compartment lid handle missing) with accessories comprising Colt's Patent brass bullet mould, Dixon & Sons powder-flask retaining some of its original lacquered finish, and an Eley Bros Colt's Pt. cap tin, the exterior of the lid with vacant circular brass escutcheon
