A Rare .36 Thuer Conversion Colt 1851 Model Navy Revolver
No. 207645 For 1869-72

With sighted barrel with New-York address and retaining traces of original blueing (an inscription obscured on the left side forward of the barrel-wedge), cylinder with roll engraved naval engagement scene, blued conversion ring stamped 'Pat. Sep. 15. 1868', and engraved with characteristic 'e' in script, frame retaining traces of case-hardening, rammer en suite, brass trigger-guard and back-strap retaining traces of original silvering, varnished figured rounded grips (some wear), and matching numbers, London proof marks

Flaydeman notes 'Though failing to prove a practical product, the Thuer's status as the first metallic cartridge revolving Colt firearm places specimens in a prized category for the Colt collector. Limited production [about 5000] has made the type quite desirable...'
