An Indian Tulwar
Late 18th/19th Century

With broad curved finely watered wootz steel blade (minor scattered surface rust) fullered over most of its length on each side and with bright cutting edge (two small nicks towards the point), the forte on both sides thickly gold-damascened with flowering foliage below two panels of trellised florets outlining the langets, the back of the blade at the forte with running flower-heads en suite, characteristic steel hilt thickly gold-damascened with symmetrical foliage and comprising blunt langets, quillons with floret terminals and disc-shaped pommel all with beaded borders pierced with small holes, the last with pointed finial on a dome with rayed border, swelling grip, and in fine condition
