A Very Rare .577 Snider Sealed Pattern Short Service Rifle Musket
Dated 1860

With blued sighted barrel retained by two blued barrel bands, the forward one incorporating the bayonet lug on the right side, blued calibrated folding adjustable back-sight, case-hardened pivoting breech-block stamped with Snider Patent mark, blued tang, dated border engraved case-hardened flat lock with 'Tower' and a crown above 'V.R' on the tail, figured full stock (some bruising), the butt with red wax seal on each side (some losses) impressed with crowned 'Approved Pattern' within an oval bearing 'Crown Agent For The Colonies', regulation case-hardened steel mounts, sling loops, and retaining most of its original finish (ramrod missing), Birmingham proof marks
